To enter, prepare a two to four minute, compelling story that highlights one or more of the following elements:
- What did you discover about yourself while pursuing the CPCU designation?
- What inspired you to begin the program?
- What motivated you to continue?
- Who helped you along the way?
Two winners will be selected to speak on stage during the conferment ceremony at this year’s Annual Meeting. They will always be awarded an Apple Watch! Deadline for submission is August 2, 2019.
- Tell a story. Don’t just narrate what happened from the beginning of your journey to the end of it. Give the audience a character to root for, have build up within the story, and show how the character is transformed by the end.
- Give an inspiring message. The purpose of the story is to inspire future designees to go for their designation, so tell a story that helps someone do just that. Describe an obstacle and how you overcame it, or talk about how something positive really pushed you forward and kept you motivated.
- Ask for input from those around you. Chances are, your close friends and family were very aware of your journey, and watched you work hard and make sacrifices. They can give you a unique perspective on what impressed them about what you pulled off, and also give honest feedback about the strength of your story.
- Read your story out loud. It’s really hard to tell how long your story will be until you actually read it out loud. Time yourself telling the story and make sure that what you want to say fits within the 2-4 minute timeframe.

About your instructor
Insurance Exam Guides (IEG) was founded by Stacy Trinh, CPCU®, who first started her teaching journey at the request of her co-workers who were preparing for their CPCU exams. Because of her reputation as an adept trainer and motivator, Stacy's co-workers had asked her to lead a class. The feedback on her sessions and study materials was overwhelming positive, and her students encouraged her to share what she had to offer with the rest of the CPCU community.
Since then, Stacy created a library of study materials for both CPCU® and AINS® that have helped thousands of students pass their exams. As an accounting major and former claims adjuster, her style of instruction incorporates both a financial and operational perspective that makes her study materials well-rounded. She looks forward to helping many more students continue to succeed, including you!
